After I watched this I remembered “The Music Man” and the “think method”. I guess Professor Harold Hill was on to something. My other thought was that I’m not really wasting time when I’m thinking about my music. It counts as practice. Now I’m wondering if myelin is produced as effectively in older adults as in mice.
David B Teague says:
It helps to spend time with my part, left hand on an imaginary fingerboard, right hand with an imaginary bow (a pencil helps) and “play” the music in my head. Not quite the same for intonation as having the instrument in hand, but less tiring in some ways, more so in others, and very effective.
Nancy Mack says:
I sometimes use my right arm as a fingerboard to practice with my left hand.
